Frequently asked questions

Delivery, cash on delivery, warranty and returns. If your question is not here, message us on WhatsApp — it is the fastest way to get an answer.

Delivery

How long does delivery take?

The estimate for each product is shown on its page and again at checkout, counted in working days from when we confirm the order. Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi are normally at the faster end. Remote areas take longer, and the whole courier network slows down around Eid.

Do you deliver across all of Pakistan?
Yes. We deliver to all four provinces, to Azad Jammu & Kashmir, to Gilgit-Baltistan and to Islamabad Capital Territory.
What does delivery cost?
The delivery charge is shown in your cart and at checkout before you confirm anything. Where a free-delivery threshold applies, the cart tells you how much more you would need to add to reach it.
Why do you need a mobile number rather than a landline?
The courier calls before delivering, and they cannot reach a landline while they are out on a route. An order with a landline number is an order that gets returned undelivered, so the checkout asks for a mobile.
Can I collect from your shop instead?
Message us on WhatsApp before ordering if you would rather collect. We will confirm what is in stock at the counter and when you can come.

Orders

How do I track my order?
Use the Track Order page. You will need either your order number and your mobile number, or your mobile number and your email address. We ask for two pieces of information so that nobody can look up your order from your phone number alone.
I have lost my order number. Can I still find my order?
Yes. Use the Track Order page with your mobile number and the email address you ordered with, and it will find the order without the number.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Contact us as soon as possible on WhatsApp with your order number. If the parcel has not yet been handed to the courier we can usually change the address or the items, or cancel it. Once it is with the courier it becomes a return instead.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There are no accounts on this site and no password to remember. You order as a guest, and your mobile number is what identifies your order afterwards.
Can I order over WhatsApp instead of using the website?
Yes, and for a single item it is often quicker. Every product page has a Buy on WhatsApp button that opens a chat with the product, its price and its link already filled in.

Payment

Do you offer cash on delivery?
Yes. Cash on delivery is available across most of Pakistan and is how the majority of our orders are paid. A small number of areas are excluded because our couriers do not offer it there; if your city is one of them the checkout will say so and offer bank transfer instead. A few large or fragile items are bank transfer only, and their product pages say so before you add them to a cart.
How does bank transfer work?
Choose bank transfer at checkout and you will see our account details and the exact amount to send. Transfer the amount, then send us the receipt on WhatsApp with your order number. We confirm the order once the payment shows in our account, which is usually the same working day.
Can I pay by card?
No. We accept cash on delivery and bank transfer only. There is no card payment on this site, which also means you never enter card details here and we store none. We will never ask you for an OTP, a card PIN or a banking password.
Are your prices negotiable for bulk orders?
For quantities beyond a few units, message us on WhatsApp with what you need and we will quote you. Bulk pricing on cameras, cable and switches is normally available for a whole-site equipment list.

Products

Are your products genuine?
Yes. We buy from authorised distributors rather than the grey market. That matters for two practical reasons: the manufacturer warranty is real, and the firmware is the manufacturer's own rather than a modified build.
Is the item in the photograph exactly what I receive?
Yes, allowing for the fact that manufacturers occasionally revise packaging. If a specific detail matters to your decision, message us and we will check the actual stock before you order.
Do you sell used or refurbished equipment?
Most of what we sell is new. Where an item is used or refurbished, its condition is stated clearly on the product page and in the listing badge — we do not list a refurbished unit as simply "a camera".
Can you recommend a complete CCTV setup for my shop?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp with the size of the space, how many entrances there are, and whether there is existing cabling, and we will put together a list. Our buying guides also work through the common cases in more detail.

Returns

Can I return an item?
Yes, for a defective, damaged or incorrect item. There are two deadlines and they are different: report the problem within 24 hours of delivery, then return the product within 7 days. The packaging must not be damaged and the product must not be damaged, and it has to come back complete with every accessory. We do not accept returns for a change of mind — ask us before ordering if you are unsure which camera you need. Something that fails later is a warranty matter rather than a return.
What if the item arrives damaged?
Check the parcel before accepting it, and film yourself opening it. If the outer packaging is damaged, note it with the courier at the point of delivery — that record is what lets us claim against them. Then contact us within 24 hours with your order number, a photograph and the unboxing video. You have 7 days from delivery to send the product back once we have confirmed the claim.

Technical

What is the difference between a DVR and an NVR?
A DVR records from analogue cameras over coaxial cable; an NVR records from IP cameras over a network cable. If a building already has coax from an older system, a DVR reuses it and saves rewiring. For a new installation an NVR is usually better, because a single network cable carries both power and video to each camera.
Do recorders come with a hard drive?
No. DVRs and NVRs are sold without a drive, and the drive should be a surveillance-rated one — a desktop drive usually fails within a year in a recorder, because continuous writing is not what it was built for.
Is 2MP enough, or do I need 4MP?
A 2MP camera shows you that somebody was at the counter; a 4MP camera shows you who. For a gate, a till or anywhere you might need to identify a face or a number plate, the difference is the whole point of the system. For general coverage of a room, 2MP is adequate.
Do you provide installation?
No. We supply the equipment; we do not fit it. What we will do is help you work out what you need — how many cameras, where they go, whether PoE or Wi-Fi, how much storage — and tell you what a good installation looks like so you can judge the quotes you get. We can often point you to an installer locally. Message us on WhatsApp with the building and what you are trying to see.
Will these cameras work during load-shedding?
Only if they have backup power. A UPS on the recorder, the router and the camera power supply is what keeps a system recording through an outage — and putting one on the recorder matters most, because a recorder that loses power mid-write can corrupt the footage already stored.

Warranty

What warranty do your products carry?
The manufacturer's. The period is shown on every product page before you buy, because it genuinely differs by item, and it is printed on your invoice too. A small number of accessories carry none. dotpk.pk does not add a warranty of its own on top — every claim goes to the brand's authorised service centre in Pakistan, and we will tell you which one and help you through it.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Contact us with your order number and a description of the fault; a photograph or a short video usually saves a round trip. We will tell you whether the fault is covered and where to send the unit.
